Midnight Mass is the latest Netflix horror series from the creator of The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor. Both of those series feature a fun little metagame in which viewers can spot several obscure ghost locations. But, are there Midnight Mass hidden ghosts? Here’s the lowdown on whether or not viewers should expect secret ghost sightings to appear in Mike Flanagan’s new show streaming now on Netflix.
Does Midnight Mass on Netflix have hidden ghosts?
Midnight Mass doesn’t include hidden ghost sightings in the same vein as The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor.
Creator Mike Flanagan is keen to point out that Midnight Mass doesn’t feature secret ghost sightings a la The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor. In a recent interview with The Wrap, the shows’ creator said that fans looking to spot undercover ghosts in Midnight Mass will be “really, really disappointed.”
Despite being another episodic horror series for Netflix, Midnight Mass is not part of the wider “Haunting” franchise. The Midnight Mass creator acknowledges these similarities, along with some crossover in cast members, though is being “very careful not to incorrectly make people expect this to be that.”
Despite the missing metagame of finding concealed ghouls, fans of both The Haunting of Bly Manor and Hill House should find a lot to like here. Midnight Mass is the closest thing to a threequel for audiences so far, though that doesn’t rule out a legitimate third entry. Flanagan also states that “a third iteration” of the Haunting franchise is “wide open” as a future possibility.
In other news, the new Apple Watch update is… well… stopping them from telling the time. That isn’t the only ongoing faux pas for the California tech giant, though; some iPhone 13 users are experiencing display and camera problems right out of the box.
