Metroid Dread Get Bombs Early Sequence Break Kraid Instant Kill

Metroid Dread Early Bombs: How to get the bombs before Kraid

Metroid Dread players have found a way to get the bombs before the Kraid fight, which unlocks an interesting easter egg. Those who want to get the bombs early and insta-kill Kraid will have to go off the beaten path and sequence break, but the process isn’t too tough to pull off.

How to get the bombs before Kraid in Metroid Dread

To get the bombs early in Metroid Dread, players must first get the Grapple Beam. Obtaining both of these items before the Kraid fight requires players to sequence break (be careful), and we’ve detailed how to do so below.

How to get the Grapple Beam early

Metroid Dread Get Grapple Beam Early Map

To get the grapple beam early, players need to get the Varia Suit as usual. However, instead of going to Cataris, players should go to Dairon.

In Dairon, there’s a lava room where players can break a block to drop into a secret area. Here, there’s a door that leads to a second room with a long lava pool. It’ll look impassible at first, but players can slide jump up and to the left, then wall jump into a morph ball passage that leads across the top of the room. Once at the end of the passage, players can drop down. They then need to slide jump and grab onto the ledge to the right. Once players clear the gap, they can drop down and open the charge beam door. Through the door is an elevator that leads to Arteria.

Once at Arteria, players need to head right through the door, then drop to the bottom of the shaft. In the next room, there is a red missile door that leads to the room containing the Grapple Beam.

To get the bombs, players now need to return to Dairon Network Room we marked in the map. From here, head left and then enter the EMMI zone. Luckily, this EMMI doesn’t have any special abilities, so it shouldn’t be too tough to make it to the upper left EMMI door and exit the area.

Once through the exit, players will use the Grapple Beam to destroy the block, then head through the resulting hole. In this area, Samus needs to reactivate the power. To do so, head out of this passage using the top right door. In the next room with the (diving suit looking robot and circular water tank), head toward the door in the top left, drop down to the bottom of the chamber, head right and climb up the platforms here to reach a door. Inside the next section, Samus can activate the power generator by stepping on a plate. Next, head back to the room with the robot and water tank and go right to find a missile door. Open it up to find the bombs.

How to insta-kill Kraid

Metroid Dread Kraid Morph Ball Cannon

Now players can head to Cataris to continue the regular game route. Players will need to battle Kraid until the second phase of the fight, where they drop down in from of his belly. Once this occurs, players can bomb the bottom left corner of the platform to reveal a Morph Ball Cannon.

Players can now head into the cannon and use a bomb to shoot themselves into Kraid’s stomach. Samus will then instantly kill the boss, and the fight will be over.
