The Darkest Dungeon 2 discount on Steam is activated by purchasing the Darkest Dungeon: The Iron Crown bundle in the store.
The Iron Crown bundle provides a 25% discount on both Darkest Dungeon 1 and Darkest Dungeon 2. If you don’t have either game yet in your Steam library, then the bundle will cost $48.73. But if already own the original games, then you will get a straight 25% discount on Darkest Dungeon 2, lowering its price to $29.99.
However, some fans are angry that the game isn’t $29.99 right out of the gate on Steam like it is on Epic Games Store. A lot of people who played the original game didn’t play it on Steam, but instead on PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Linux, or Mac. Or maybe, like me, they played the original game through Steam sharing from a friend.
Whatever the case, it’s a bit disappointing that the Steam discount doesn’t make the price lower than the $29.99 point. That said, if you’re angry about how the discount or how it works, Darkest Dungeon 2 is the kind of game that will be featured in many future Steam sales.
