Remnant 2 Negative Trait Points Bug Glitch

Remnant 2 Negative Trait Points Bug Fix: How to Restore Traits

The Remnant 2 negative trait points bug is making players quit the game. It’s unclear what is causing traits to go below zero, but from the reports we’ve seen, it typically occurs after being suddenly disconnected from the game. In particular, getting disconnected from a friend’s game can cause this issue. Worse, using the Orb of Undoing doesn’t fix the problem, but actually makes the negative points permanent. Fortunately, this glitch has impacted enough players that the developers have officially addressed the issue. Here’s how to fix the negative traits points bug in Remnant 2.

How to fix Remnant 2 negative trait points bug

The following steps can be taken to fix the negative trait points bug:

  • Load an uncorrupted save file – This particular fix is specific to PC users. If your save file has become corrupted, you can located your local save folder for the game where you’ll find backup files. The backups end in “.bak1”, “.bak2”, and “.bak3” with the “.bak1” file being the most recent. You can rename the file with the “.sav” extension to restore it.
  • Wait for Gunfire Games to fix the bug – The developer has formally written a PSA about this negative trait points issue on Reddit. Gunfire Games has not stated what the cause of the bug is, only that they have “tracked down the issue.” They promise to provide a patch for it at a later date.
  • Use a cheat engine (Not Recommended) – We won’t link to any cheat engines here, but using one can help restore your trait points back to the normal amount. Just be careful if you use one, since that can corrupt your save or lead to an online ban.

Until the patch arrives, Gunfire Games notes not to use the Orb of Undoing and some trait points will be gone forever. You can try the first solution listed above if that has already happened to your character.
