The Monster Hunter World best weapon is quite a subjective assessment. The list of weapons is rather short and sweet, and all of them will be accessible once you’re around Hunter Level 15. - Kadachi Fang – This Kadachi Long Sword has good Thunder affinity and attack power. Its Spirit Helm Breaker and Evade Extender traits aren’t bad, either.
- First Dance – This Kulu Long Sword has very strong flat physical damage stats. At grade 5, it has a base stat of 430 attack and that can be upgraded even further.
- Jagras Edge – This Jagras Sword and Shield has strong Water affinity and has the helpful Perfect Rush Combo and Health Boost traits.
- Blazing Rifle – This Anjanath Light Bowgun has a solid Fire affinity and comes with the Wyvernblast Counter and Rising Tide traits.
Now, this isn’t to say that the bow, hammer, and greatsword are bad options at all. In particular, the hammer and greatsword have great attack power and charged attacks, though they can be tough to use at first.
The main point to consider is less about the exact weapon and more about having various options for elemental damage. Though you can have a set of different weapons if you wish, we believe that most players will want to select the weapon type they are most comfortable with and then upgrading several elemental versions of that weapon.
In particular, we recommend that you have a fire, water, and thunder option. This will cover all of the elemental weaknesses for the current set of enemies in the game, apart from the Diablos that is weak to ice. Either way, focusing on three or four weapons is about right since there’s only so resources and zenny to go around.
