Pokémon GO Is Even More Popular Than You Think

At this point you've probably heard that Pokémon GO has increased the stock value of Nintendo, and has become one of the most popular games. It's no secret that it's been a huge success since it debuted two weeks ago, quickly building mindshare among millions of consumers around the globe. But how popular is it really?

To put Pokémon GO's popularity in perspective, marketing intelligence agency SensorTower has compared its earnings and usage against the top mobile games and apps on Android and iOS. The results are surprising.

As seen below, Pokémon GO is king when it comes to early adoption. It required only seven days to reach 10 million worldwide downloads, and the average user spends 33.5 minutes per day playing the game.

These are record-breaking numbers that make Nintendo's first forray into mobile gaming a success story of the highest order.

The result of this success is over $35 million in revenue and 30 million worldwide downloads, figures that have instantaneously transitioned Nintendo from a business in jeopardy to one in full control.

Later this year Nintendo will debut Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem to its newly found mobile audience. The potential for these games is significant and could redefine the gaming landscape.
