Sense And Sensibility And Jason Voorhees: Friday The 13th Devs Change Major Ability

Anyone who played through the closed Beta of Friday the 13th: The Game can tell you the same thing: that Jason Voorhees is a doozy. I personally didn't play a single game where any of the counselors escaped, but I also understand my experience to be among the extreme examples.

That being said, the pervasiveness of Jason Voorhees' murder rate was apparently enough to warrant an important change to one of his primary abilities.

Wes Keltner of Gun Media posted in the Friday the 13th: The Game forums that Jason's "Sense" ability will undergo a rework that will give the campers a bit more time to grab their bearings. His sense ability, where Jason can determine your location depending on your level of fear, will now work in a small radius around Jason that gets wider as the game goes on.

"What this amounts to is that the first 2-3 minutes of gameplay, is a little slower," Keltner wrote. This gives "counselors more of a shot to find parts, find the fuse for the phone, or at least get a gameplan together."

Keltner did note that you may still have an unlucky spawn that puts you right near Jason or near a high-value location that Jason regularly patrols, such as the car, but ended by saying that this change "gives counselors hope."

Friday the 13th: The Game is slated for a full PC, PS4 and Xbox One release some time in the first half of 2017. Gun Media has been notoriously reluctant to give a more specific timeframe, as they don't want to overpromise and under-deliver.
