AT&T Announces Vita 3G Prices at CES

The PlayStation Vita seems to constantly have a steady trickle of price announcements. First it was the announcement of the price of the device itself, then accessories, then games, and then memory cards. As we get closer and closer to launch day, we'll undoubtedly have more and more unveiled.

Today's big announcement came from AT&T at CES, where they revealed their prices for 3G plans for the Vita. It's about what I thought:

  • $15/month for 250 MB
  • $25/month for 2 GB

If you are a 3G user for the iPad, you'll notice that the rates are strikingly similar. Also like the 3G plan for the iPad, AT&T's Vita plans do not require a contract. You can jump in and jump out at any time, which is an incredible perk.

These prices are reasonable, but it's not enough justification for me to pay extra for a 3G model just to be able to pay an extra subscription whenever I choose. It was worth it for me on the iPad, but as the 3G features for the Vita stand, it's not.
