Two of the Xbox 360’s best-loved titles, Mafia 2 and Prey are now available on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, Xbox figurehead Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb announces.
Hryb took to Twitter to reveal the news, increasing the total of backpat games to a whopping 452. You can see the full list here.
The duo’s backwards compatible upgrades come not far off the back of Splinter Cell: Conviction and Spec Ops: The Line’s arrivals on the system, ensuring the Xbox One’s burgeoning Backwards Compatible library is full to the brim with pretty much every game you’d ever want. Still no Modern Warfare 2, though. *Sob*
Not only can users of Mafia 2 and Prey (the OG 2006 version, not the 2017 Bethesda reboot) pop their discs into their Xbox Ones and fire it up right this second, those who don’t have their discs anymore or have just plain ol’ never got around to it are in luck: both games are on sale on the Xbox Store now. Mafia 2 and Prey will set you back a paltry $7.49/£6.24 and $3.99/£2.99 respectively, thanks to the 2K Publisher sale.
For those who need a quick primer: Mafia 2 is often regarded as one of the most overlooked open-world games of its generation, and places you in the shoes of Army vet Vito Scaletta who works his way up through the ranks of, you guessed it, the Mafia in 1950s America.
Prey, meanwhile, involved former soldier (noticing a theme here?) Tommy, alongside his girlfriend and grandfather, get abducted by aliens. Things only get weirder from there.
Both games are available to buy now via your Xbox One console or the Xbox website upon logging in.
