Far Cry 5 Preview, Far Cry

Far Cry 5 Has Microtransactions Which Can Speed Your Progress

Ubisoft has revealed several details about the microtransactions in its upcoming Far Cry 5. The game is slated to be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 27th, 2018. Ubisoft Executive Producer Dan Hay explains that Far Cry 5 will have microtransactions, with which players can spend money in order to speed up their progress. However, players who prefer to explore the open-world and try everything themselves can still do so without missing out, according to Hay who said: “We’ve set the game up to be generous. We’ve set the game up so…nothing is locked [away]. You can go out and explore, and the game will reward you for your exploration.”

No details have been revealed about the exact nature of how the speed-up microtransactions will work. In Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed Origins last year, players were offered “Time Saver Packs” which contain the necessary items and in-game currency to speed up the player’s progress in the game. Far Cry 5 might presumably have similar microtransactions, which are optional but unlockable via normal gameplay.

Ubisoft added that this will be the very first time in the Far Cry franchise that players can customize their character with new weapons, vehicles, and other unlockable as they progress through the game. These will presumably be the so-called “cosmetic microtransactions” that will “not affect the gameplay.”

Additionally, Ubisoft also confirmed that the entire campaign will be playable offline, without the need for a constant internet connection like Destiny 2 or 2015’s Need For Speed reboot.

In other related news, we recently reported that Far Cry 5‘s Season Pass will contain several wacky DLCs and a copy of Far Cry 3 Classic Edition. It will also feature three unique DLC adventures, where players will travel back in time to the tropical jungles of Vietnam to battle against Việt Cộng in Hours of Darkness. Next, players will face hordes of flesh-eating zombies in various B-movie scenarios in what will surely be a treat for movie buffs. Last but not least, players will actually leave planet Earth to zap some arachnids on the barren surface of Mars for some sci-fi cheesiness.

Last but not least, here’s the most recent live-action Far Cry 5 trailer released by Ubisoft.
