PUBG Creator Wants to Support it for 20 Years

Today at the BAFTA Awards, Brendan Greene, the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battleground discussed what he envisioned for PUBG in the future. To put it simply, Greene wants to support the breakout battle royale game for at least another 20 years.

In an interview with IGN, Greene said “we want to do this for the next 20 years. We really want to build out a platform for game modes and possible esports. We’re committed to supporting this game for a long time.

Considering the improvements that have recently been added to PUBG, such as new modes and challenges, it does seem as though Greene is taking PUBG’s future very seriously. Recently the company behind PUBG sued battle royale copycats that they believed were tarnishing their good name, so it should be clear to anyone who wants to try their hand at copying PUBG that doing so would be a very bad idea, especially against this level of dedication.

Greene also mentioned PUBG’s upcoming maps, stating that the next 8×8 map will be arriving later this year, supposedly being set near the Adriatic Sea. He also said that the second round of testing for its 4×4 Savage map will also begin Tuesday, April 17, with more access keys being sent out on Saturday, April 14th.  What’s more, PUBG Corp. recently announced that the game’s popular War Mode, a mode that is pratically deathmatch but currently limited to custom games, will in fact become an event in the future.

All of this seems pretty exciting news to PUBG fans, doesn’t it? Considering the intense rivalry that the game has with Fortnite, it makes sense that the company will continue to try and support a game that has the fanbase to put it against Epic’s battle royale game. Regardless, we can’t predict the future but we’re interested to see if Greene will keep his word and we’ll still be seeing PUBG in another 20 years.
