A new partnership is forming between unlikely allies to raise money for a great cause. Square Enix and the Gary Sinise Foundation have come together to raise money for America’s veterans, first responders, and their families. Square Enix will match every donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000.

Reported by Resetera, Square Enix announced it will be matching donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation as part of its promotion for Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers. Founded by actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, the Gary Sinise Foundation honors American defenders such as veterans and first responders as well as their families. Every donation goes toward programs “designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities” in order to best serve the heroes of the U.S. The foundation has raised money for specially-designed houses and vehicles for wounded warriors, performances for veterans, emergency relief grants, and more.

Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers is a long-awaited expansion to Final Fantasy 14. The massive expansion will bring a whole new narrative, higher level caps, new areas, and even more playable classes. Instead of a Warrior of Light, players will see themselves become a Warrior of Darkness. It is the third Final Fantasy 14 expansion and will be available on July 2, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Windows, Mac, and Steam.

Coming together with the Gary Sinise Foundation raises both awareness of the game and money for a good cause. In the moving announcement video, which you can view below, there are interviews with firefighters discussing their traumas and how the Gary Sinise Foundation has supported and empowered first responders, whom they refer to as “the real-life Warriors in the Darkness.”

If you’d like to make a donation, you can do so through the official Warriors in the Darkness website here. If you’d like to learn more about the Gary Sinise Foundation, check it out here.
