Pokémon X & Y Mega Evolutions Detailed

There are a whole lot of changes coming to the latest entry in the long-standing Pocket Monsters franchise, and thanks to a new announcement from Nintendo, we've got an entire new set of evolutions to look forward to.

Pokémon X & Y will feature Mega Evolutions, which boost and alter particular creatures' abilities and appearance for a limited amount of time. During battle, a player can use a Mega Stone to Mega Evolve one of their Pokémon for an added advantage. Once the trainer fight is over, the monster will revert back to its original form.

Remember that Mewtwo-like Pokémon that Nintendo teased us with a while back? Coincidentally it's the Mega Evolved form of Mewtwo. Cool, huh?

Pokémon X & Y launches worldwide on October 12th.
