Smartphones and tablets are no threat to the traditional console business, according to Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen.
In fact, during the Stifel Technology, Internet, & Media Conference, the EA exec went so far as to say that the mobile market will actually have a positive effect on consoles. "It's bringing new people into the gaming business, but I don't see a day when it takes over the console experience," he explained. "I think it will expand the console experience."
Console gaming offers something that simply can't be replicated on a mobile device, and for that reason, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will see successful futures. "You just can't get that kind of experience on mobile," Jorgensen said of console games. "Mobile is a much more quick, short burst of gameplay."
Do you think the rise in mobile gaming has hurt the console experience?
