Destiny Beta Will Not Run at 1080p on Xbox One; Bungie Promises It Will at Launch

The PS4 beta for Destiny begins today, and good news, everyone—it's expected to run in 1080p resolution! The Xbox One beta begins on July 23rd, and… well… it will… eventually.

The report comes from Destiny's blog via an IGN livestream held yesterday, where comments between IGN's Ryan McCaffrey and Bungie Community Manager David Dague revealed that though the goal was to have all consoles running at 1080p, it's not quite set for the Xbox One version.

“This beta is where we are in development right now,” Dague said to McCaffrey during the interview. “The fact that you are playing in the beta is of enormous help to us because it teaches us what this thing is, it teaches us how we can perfect it and make it better before launch.”

Dague, along with Bungie developers in prior interviews, reconfirmed that the goal for Destiny is 1080p and 30fps on all consoles. Players will see if that's the case on September 9, 2014, when the FPS/sci-fi/fantasy mash-up is scheduled to drop on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
