Light No Fire: a giant hand reaching up to a red orb.

No Man’s Sky Dev Reveals New Open World Game Light No Fire

No Man’s Sky has enjoyed one of the most renowned redemptive arcs in recent video game history. Developer Hello Games went from being hounded for misleading fans to dedicating itself to doing a complete 180. Now the British studio has just unveiled its next project.

Not on the same scale as NMS

Announced at this year’s Game Awards, the creative minds behind the galaxy exploration game No Man’s Sky have announced Light No Fire. The teaser shows a fantasy world that’s described as a “procedural” and “unexplored” earth, consisting of skeletons, warriors, and dragons.

A post on Twitter says the studio has been working on it for the past five years. This is on top of releasing frequent and significant updates for NMS. Not much is known about the new game yet, but it seems to be sticking to a more open world than an open universe.

Light No Fire is touted as a multiplayer title that seems to put a lot of weight into adventure and exploration, something that Hello Games is becoming known for.

Of course, some may be holding back any excitement for now. We all remember what happened when it came to promoting No Man’s Sky before it was released back in 2016. Many were left disappointed – even duped – by developer lead Sean Murray.

Fortunately, the years have been kind. The game is now not only in a much better state but almost exceeds expectations. Today, it enjoys a dedicated fan base.

Murray says he and his team have definitely learned a lesson since those dark days. We can only hope that Light No Fire will be as lauded as No Man’s Sky, even if the latter took some time to get to that point.
