What Are You Playing? The Culling 2, Sonic Mania Plus, and More

There haven’t been many major new releases this week, meaning that the GameRevolution staff has been diving into their back catalog. In some cases, deep into their back catalog. Check out what we’ve been playing this week, and be sure to let us know what you’ve been playing in the comments section below!

Paul Tamburro, Executive Editor: I’m gonna be honest with you: I’ve just been playing Overwatch again. I love this game and I love its new hamster, and literally nothing can stop me from being obsessed with it.

Jason Faulkner, Senior Editor: I’ve been playing Bomber Crew. I saw it on Xbox Game Pass and before I knew it I was hooked. There’s something cathartic about sending my tiny English bomber out into the skies to destroy U-Boats and V1 installations, and even though the controls are a bit complciated they translate surprisingly well to the Xbox One controller.

Mack Ashworth, Lead Editor: I’ve downloaded The Culling 2, which is yet another battle royale game. When I ultimately grow bored of that, I’ll continue with the brilliant Mario Tennis Aces.

Bradley Russell, Guides Writer: Tony Hawk’s Underground 2. Don’t ask me why – but I missed it the first time around 14 (!) years ago. It’s an incredible time capsule filled with immature fart jokes, misogyny and I think there’s some skateboarding thrown in there too. It’s just utterly surreal: Frank Sinatra being piped through while you play as an undead voodoo skater trying to mow down zombies in New Orelans is… something. You can almost hear the shark being jumped.

Aimee Hart, News Writer: I’m still playing Battle Chef Brigade and having the time of my life with it. The hand-drawn art is to die for and I’m really enjoying the Tetris-style puzzles that I have to play through in order to make some delicious looking food. People who applaud Breath of the Wild for its cooking mechanic should really give this game a try because it’s so underrated it’s criminal!

Brandon Green, News Writer: I’m at the end of Agents of Mayhem. It’s a fun but flawed game. It’s got some cool ideas that are unfortunately, not excuted properly. I’ve also been playing Warframe and farming for relics with friends so we can get Limbo Prime. Excalibur Umbra is an absolute blast to play as.

Alleef Ashaari, News Writer: I’ve just started playing Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead franchise for the first time. I’ve been doing a Telltale marathon of sorts, having recently completed both seasons of Batman and the first season of Guardians of the Galaxy. All of this has me hyped for the Final Season arriving next month.

Michael Leri, Staff Writer: I ran through Sonic Mania Plus, which was my first Sonic game. It’s neat even if I don’t think that the core of that series has aged well. I’ve also been getting my ass back to Mars in the stupidly named Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered. It also hasn’t aged well but that destruction is still so, so incredible. Just give me a hammer and some an evil building to wreck and I’m good to go.

David Lozada, Features Writer: I never got the chance to play through Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, so that’s currently eating up what little free time I have right now. The visuals are so mind-blowing, even on my small, extremely outdated Samsung TV. Seriously, I can’t stop taking screenshots.

Graham Douglas, News Writer: This past week I’ve largely been busy trying to learn the ropes around GR, but I did manage to get my Nintendo 64 fix via PJ64 for a bit. There is just something about attaching a dongle to my PC and hooking up that monstrosity of a Nintendo 64 controller that I miss from time to time.
