Burnout Revenge Now Playable on Xbox One With Backward Compatibility

I’m sure many gamers have had nostalgic memories of ramming cars into blazing pulps of crashing heaps in the Burnout games of yesteryear. Burnout Revenge was one of those games. It was originally released for the PS2 and Xbox in 2005, as well as on the Xbox 360 in 2006. It’s similar to its older cult classic brother, Burnout 3: Takedown, which featured the same vehicular chaos. Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hryb, recently announced via Twitter that Burnout Revenge is the next classic Xbox / Xbox 360 title to join the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog. What this basically means is that Xbox One owners with a physical copy of the original game can simply pop it in and play it immediately.

Burnout Revenge Xbox One: Where do I get a copy?

Those without a physical copy need not worry as they can easily purchase a digital copy of Burnout Revenge for around $10 on the Xbox Store. If they still prefer the physical version, players will have to fork up over $30 as it increases in price over time.

Burnout Revenge Xbox One: Improvements

The game actually runs better on the Xbox One than it did on the Xbox and Xbox 360, with improved frame rate. However, since it hasn’t actually been remastered or enhanced in any way, the visuals may seem a bit dated to some, which is fair considering the graphics are now more than a decade old.

Burnout Paradise, which was originally released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, also recently made a comeback. It was remastered for the PS4 and Xbox One. Check out our review of Burnout Paradise Remastered here, which we gave a rating of 3.5 out of 5.

In other related news, Microsoft bolstered the Xbox One Backward Compatibility catalog last month when it added many classics from the original Xbox era. Games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind instantly became playable, which made the Xbox One increase in terms of gaming value.
