Destiny 2 Down _ Season of Dawn scheduled server maintenance

Destiny 2 Down | Season of Dawn scheduled server maintenance

Destiny 2 is entering its ninth season of content with the Destiny 2: Season of Dawn update. As with many big updates like this, Bungie has taken Destiny 2 down for scheduled server maintenance. There’s likely one big question on the minds of players excited for Season of Dawn who can’t log in to Destiny 2, then: When will Destiny 2 be back up? We’ve got all the details on the Destiny 2 scheduled downtime, server offline end times, and error codes players may encounter during maintenance.

Destiny 2 Down | When is the server maintenance over?

In order to implement Season of Dawn’s update 2.7.0, Bungie is beginning maintenance on Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 at 11 AM ET on Tuesday, December 10. While players should still be able to play once this background maintenance begins (barring unexpected errors), all players will be logged out of Destiny 2 at 11:45 AM ET. Bungie will then begin to roll out update 2.7.0 at 12 PM ET, and players should be able to log in again at 1 PM ET. Background maintenance won’t conclude until 2 PM PT, however, so players may still experience errors during that last hour of maintenance. Here’s a breakdown of the December 10 scheduled downtime:

  • 11 AM ET: Destiny 2 maintenance begins
  • 11:45 AM ET: Destiny 2 shuts down for all players
  • 1 PM ET: Destiny 2 back online
  • 2 PM ET: Destiny 2 maintenance ends

While these are the scheduled times for the server maintenance, several of Bungie’s recent updates have resulted in unexpected downtime extensions. While there may be a better chance of update 2.7.0 going smoothly since Bungie has likely been planning it for a while, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep’s launch resulted in emergency maintenance beyond the expansion’s scheduled downtime. Knowing this, it may not be a bad idea to plan for some added offline time after 1 PM ET.

Bungie recommends checking the Bungie Help Twitter account for updates around the time of the update. Players attempting to log in during maintenance will receive the Destiny 2 Cat error code, but it’s possible to encounter other error codes when logging in after Destiny 2 comes back online. For information on these other codes, check out our guides below:

If you’ve followed the steps in these guides and are still experiencing the error, your best bet is to look on the Bungie Help forums to see if others are experiencing the same issue. Otherwise, consider consulting Bungie’s Network Troubleshooting Guide.
