The fifth season of content just kicked off in EA and Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends. The introduction of a new character, Loba, along with a new patch means that there’s also an all-new meta. With that in mind, what Legend is now the best character for Apex Legends Season 5? Stick with this guide to find out the strongest early picks.
Best character for Apex Legends Season 5 | What Legend should I pick?
Our top character pick for Apex Legends Season 5 is Loba. This probably isn’t all that surprising, considering that she’s the newest addition. Ignoring the simple fact that many players aren’t used to countering her abilities yet, new characters are generally on the OP side by design — nobody would ever play them if they immediately sucked, after all. Loba’s abilities (which you can see here) make her highly maneuverable and grant her massive survivability. In the right hands, she can be a real pain for opposing players to take down.
If Loba isn’t your thing, or you just haven’t bought her yet, we’d suggest opting for Bloodhound or Mirage next. Which of the two Legends you choose largely depends on your preference, as both characters have been buffed and are very strong right now.
Bloodhound’s Eye of the Allfather tactical ability received increased sonar detection and a shorter cooldown, which proves to be a potent pairing — especially considering the character’s previous buffs. Meanwhile, Mirage got improvements pretty much right across the board with a number of tactical, ultimate, and passive buffs. You can read all the specifics in the full 1.37 patch notes, though know that the changes are intended to “give more depth” to Mirage by “giving players avenues to get better at Bamboozling people.”
Caustic gets an honorable mention for no longer slowing down allies, while Pathfinder has sadly fallen from grace with a massive Grappling Hook cooldown nerf increasing the wait from 15 to 35 seconds.
