The Last of Us 2 Alternate Ending

The Last of Us 2 Alternate Ending | Are there multiple endings?

If you’re a big fan of the original game, which had a funny “alternate ending,” you might be wondering if a The Last of Us 2 alternate ending also exists. As more and more games implement player choices that influence the story, it wouldn’t be shocking to see developer Naughty Dog implement The Last of Us Part 2 multiple endings. There won’t be any spoilers in this guide, as we won’t be going into specifics. We’ll just be giving a simple “yes” or “no” on what you can expect.

Is there an alternate ending to The Last of Us 2?

The Last of Us 2 Alternate Ending

No, there is no alternate ending to The Last of Us 2. All players will experience the same story and final conclusion as crafted by the developer.

No matter what choices you make in the game, the final sequence will play out the same. This might be disappointing to some players, but ultimately it’s how the writers wanted The Last of Us 2 to end.

Of course, it’s possible that there will be an “alternate ending” in the style of the first game. As you can see in the video below, the original The Last of Us alternate ending featured a prank on Joel Miller’s actor, Troy Baker, which resulted in a musical finale.

We’ll have to wait and see for any similar behind the scenes footage from The Last of Us 2 recordings. With the majority of the game’s sequences being shot using motion capture, with actors providing both movement and voice, there are plenty of opportunities for funny slip-ups and pranks.

It’s also worth mentioning that the first game had a “Left Behind” story DLC, which expanded on Ellie’s story. It’s possible that we could see something similar for The Last of Us 2, potentially adding on to the original ending.
