Outriders Firepower vs Damage: Which stat is better?

Figuring out the character stats in Outriders isn’t always easy. Statistics like Firepower and Weapon Damage read like synonyms, but don’t actually mean the same thing. So, here’s an Outriders Firepower vs Damage explainer for users on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.

Outriders Firepower vs Damage: What is the difference?

Outriders Firepower vs Damage

In Outriders, players can tell which weapon does the most damage by inspecting the Firepower stat. Always equip weapons based on the Firepower statistic, and not the Weapon Damage percentage. Outriders’ Weapon Damage stat is simply a factor in deciding the overall Firepower; a higher percentage does not always indicate that a gun is better.

For example:

  • Weapon 1: Firepower 300, Weapon Damage 50%
    • Base Firepower = 200
    • Weapon Damage 50% = 100
    • Overall Firepower = 300
  • Weapon 2: Firepower 280, Weapon Damage 75%
    • Base Firepower = 160
    • Weapon Damage 75% = 120
    • Overall Firepower = 280

Despite the second weapon having a significantly larger Weapon Damage stat (+25%), the first weapon in this example is still better. To make the process as simple as possible, only pay attention to the in-game Firepower statistic applied to guns in Outriders.

The presentation of this information within the game isn’t immediately clear. Rest assured, however, that simply glancing at the Firepower stat is enough to decipher which weapon is the best. For extra peace of mind, hover over the Firepower number in the top left corner to see a breakdown of the figure.

Opting for an all-out Firepower build might be the most effective way to play Outriders. As such, it’s important to know how the stat works and how Weapon Damage buffs affect it. Now that the difference is clear, proceeding to create a powerhouse of a character should be more simple.
