The final season of The Walking Dead has started airing, and that means all bets are off when it comes to character deaths. As such, fans are worried that Daryl may die in The Walking Dead Season 11. He’s one of the longest surviving cast members, and it’s obvious that the writers aren’t going to let everyone make it through the finale alive. We’ll take a look at Daryl’s chances of survival below.
Does Daryl die in The Walking Dead Season 11
As of the end of episode 6 of The Walking Dead Season 11, Daryl Dixon is still alive.
However, Daryl continues to be a part of the group that’s in the most danger. At the close of the second episode of the season, he, Maggie, and the rest of the group headed to Meridian were under attack by the Reapers. Daryl has managed to escape similar situations before, but everyone’s luck eventually runs out.
In episode 4, Daryl finds himself captured by the Reapers and is tortured by them for information about his compatriots. His prior love interest, Leah, is part of this group and vouches for Daryl, which results in him inadvertently joining the Reapers. This mean’s he’s safe for now, but in such a volatile group, death is only a bad mood away.
In episode 6, Daryl is forced to act as part of the Reapers. This includes torturing one of the Alexandrians to prove his loyalty. Acting on information he got from “interrogating” his former traveling companion, Daryl brings a squad of Reapers to the neighborhood where Maggie, Negan, and Gabriel are hiding out. Fortunately, he’s able to warn them, and they make it out before the Reapers can find him. However, despite Leah trusting him, other members of the Reapers are still suspicious of him to the point of antagonizing him regularly. So, Daryl is very much still in danger and will eventually have to drop the charade and prove his loyalty to Alexandria, even if it means killing Leah.
Daryl is tied with Carol for the longest surviving castmate. He was introduced in The Walking Dead Season 2, Episode 2, and has been a major part of the show every since. While Daryl eventually got close to several other survivors (including Maggie’s sister Beth), he’s outlived the majority of his original compatriots, and the group he’s traveling with now isn’t the most stable.
Daryl’s greatest asset is the ability to survive on his own. Several times during the series, he’s had to split off the group, and he’s managed to come back alive each time. Unfortunately, the group he’s currently in might be headed to their doom, and Daryl might end up being a casualty of the Reaper’s fixation on Maggie. He also might sacrifice himself to save his beloved Dog, which is totally a move this show would make.
There will be a spinoff series of The Walking Dead focusing on Carol and Daryl, which might indicate that both those characters will survive. However, it could just as easily be a prequel or a different continuity.
We’ll go out on a limb and say that we think Daryl will be alive at the end of the final season, but it’s too soon to know for sure.
