A brand new PS4 system update has been launched ahead of the release of God of War, with the PS4 update 5.53 bringing with it some stability fixes before Sony debuts one of its biggest releases of 2018. With the company no doubt expecting many more players to pick up a PS4 in order to play the action game, which has received rave reviews, this update will help make using the console as smooth an experience as possible.
The new PS4 update weighs in at 44o MB, with the changelog for the update providing a brief outline of what to expect:
PS4 System Update 5.53
- This system software update improves system performance.
So nothing too exciting, then, but at the very least new God of War players will be able to play the game with their PS4 as optimized as possible. Considering the game is a visual powerhouse, such changes are necessary to ensure that players’ experiences with it are smooth, and that the PS4 won’t sound like it’s able to take off through their ceiling when rendering graphically intensive areas.
God of War is the biggest PS4 release of the year so far, and with an aggregated score of 94 on Metacritic, it is also the highest-rated game of 2018 on any platform. It remains to be seen whether or not it will continue to hold this title, with this year also set to see the release of the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man and (hopefully) The Last of Us 2, though it’s a huge feat for developer Sony Santa Monica nonetheless.
