GeForce RTX Super cards release date

GeForce RTX Super cards release date and price announced

The much-awaited GeForce RTX Super cards release date and prices has been announced. There are three GeForce RTX Super Cards on their way—the 2060, 2070, and 2080—and all of them will be coming out in July 2019. What’s more, the lower-end models won’t exactly break the bank. Prices for this new line of super-powered graphics cards will start at just $399.

Here’s the skinny on the GeForce RTX Super cards release date and prices: The GeForce RTX 2060 Super and GeForce RTX 2070 Super will both launch on July 9, 2019, at prices of $399 and $499, respectively. As for the top-tier GeForce RTX 2080 Super, you’ll be able to get your hands on one on July 24, 2019—as long as you’re willing to part with $699 of your hard-earned dollars.

These cards aren’t just adding the word “super” to their names, either. A serious increase in power is coming with this latest line of graphics cards from Nvidia. A chart on the 20 series web page compares raytracing performance for Metro Exodus on Ultra Settings at 1440p with a PC running an i9-7900x, 16 gigs of RAM, and Windows 10 64-bit. A standard GeForce 1080 Ti is used as the baseline. The RTX 2060 has three times the performance of the 1080 Ti on this metric, but the new Super line does even better than that. The GeForce RTX 2060 Super manages about 3.5x better raytracing, the GeForce RTX 2070 Super almost makes it to 4x better performance, and the GeForce RTX 2080 Super manages 4.5x better performance.

Despite these impressive gains, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti still remains as the king of the hill with 5.5x better performance. Then again, it would also cost you $500 more to get a little more graphical power.

This announcement was all but expected to happen sooner rather than later; Nvidia first teased the “Super” line at Computex 2019 back in May. This was followed by a leak in mid-June which claimed that the yet-unannounced GeForce RTX 2080 Super Ti would be the fastest card that the company has released yet. It bears mentioning that the 2080 Super Ti was not part of this announcement, so you’ll probably want to wait a while if you absolutely must own the most powerful card on the market.
