The FIFA 20 cover athletes have officially been revealed. The game’s standard edition will feature Belgian player Eden Hazard of Spanish team Madrid, while the FIFA 20 Champions Edition will feature Dutch player Virgil van Dijk of the England’s Liverpool Football Club.
The EA Sports FIFA official Twitter account revealed the cover athletes this morning. According to the tweet, the reveal of the yet-unannounced FIFA 20 cover athlete of the game’s Ultimate Edition is “coming soon.” Much like Anthem’s convoluted pre-order bonuses and special editions, FIFA 20’s standard, Champions, and Ultimate editions come with a variety of goodies: Pre-ordering the game’s standard edition gives players three rare gold FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Packs, while the Champions and Ultimate editions include 12 and 24 rare gold FUT packs, respectively. Pre-ordering any edition also gives players special edition FUT kits and one of five loan icon items, and the Ultimate Edition includes an untradable FUT “Ones to Watch” player item. Additionally, pre-ordering the Champions Edition or the Ultimate Edition gives players access to the game three days early, though players who purchase EA Access or Origin Access pre-orders will get the game a week early on September 19.
At E3 2019, EA unveiled FIFA 20 Volta, a new street soccer mode reminiscent of the defunct FIFA Street franchise. Volta features three-on-three, four-on-four, and five-on-five modes and will include its own story mode and online features, allowing players to pull off street soccer tricks alone or with other players. FIFA 20 Pro Clubs were missing from E3, but EA finally revealed Pro Clubs details last month.
FIFA 20 launches on September 27 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, though the Switch is getting the downgraded FIFA 20 Legacy Edition, which will not include the Volta mode or other “big new features.”
