Pokemon is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, with several “P25” events planned for the upcoming months. In an unexpected turn, the celebrations now include a Pokemon Day Post Malone virtual concert scheduled for later in February. Pokemon fans can tune in on Pokemon Day, February 27, for an exclusive performance that’s sure to be a spectacle.
How to watch the Pokemon Day Post Malone virtual concert
Appropriately labeled as “the concert you never saw coming,” popular rap artist Post Malone will star in the debut P25 Music event and help to kick off Pokemon’s 25th anniversary. There’s no setlist at the time of writing, but everyone has their fingers collectively crossed for a cover of the anime series’ iconic Pokemon Theme.
The Pokemon x Post Malone virtual concert will stream for free on the Pokemon YouTube and Twitch channels. It takes place live on Pokemon Day — Saturday, February 27, 2021 — at 7 PM EST / 4 PM PST. Fans can check the official website’s helpful countdown clock to find out exactly when it takes place in their timezone.

The Pokemon x Post Malone concert trailer features the real-life rapper, but also a Pokemon-style render of Malone. It isn’t yet clear whether the virtual concert will feature augmented reality effects, though it does seem implied. That’d tie in nicely with AR mobile game Pokemon Go, anyway.
Whatever form it takes, The Pokemon Company is encouraging fans to watch the virtual concert right through to the end. Its finale promises “more thrilling P25 Music announcements,” so Pokemon x Post Malone might not be the only 25th-anniversary musical collaboration in 2021.
In other P25 news, some limited-edition Pokemon TCG packs are coming to celebrate the video game series’ starters. The oversized cards feature a Pokemon 25th anniversary logo, though are otherwise faithful to the classic designs.
Of course, the P25 celebrations also extend to video games. New Pokemon Snap finally has a release date, plus the next Nintendo Direct is rumored to feature exciting Pokemon game announcements.
