Superman and Lois finale

Superman and Lois finale brings back a major DC hero for Season 2

The Superman and Lois finale was last night, bringing to a close Season 1 of the excellent Superman show along with the efforts of Tal-Rho and the Eradicator to turn Earth into a new Krypton. However, the ending offered a tease for a returning character for Superman and Lois Season 2, who is actually a major DC hero in the comics. Here’s the Superman and Lois episode 15 ending explained, and beware that spoilers follow immediately!

Superman and Lois finale: Who is Natalie Irons in the comics?

Superman and Lois finale

The Superman and Lois finale’s ending tease for Season 2 reveals that John Henry Irons’ daughter Natalie Irons (Tayler Buck) is still alive, and has somehow traveled to this Earth from their alternate Earth — presumably in the same way John did.

Natalie is known as Natasha in the comics and is an important part of DC Comics lore, as the second person to take the mantle of Steel. Often in the comics, Natasha would serve in a suit similar to her father’s and fight alongside Superman or the Teen Titans.

In either a deliberate tease or coincidence, Netherrealm’s fighting game Injustice 2 also made a re-appearance in this episode shortly before Natalie’s return. John Irons died early in the Injustice timeline and Natasha Irons’ Steel was actually introduced in the Injustice 2 comic, where she is still alive and may even be a new fighter for Injustice 3 if her comics appearance is any indication.

Natalie Irons will become a new regular on Superman and Lois Season 2, and it would be very surprising if she didn’t get an armored super-suit of her own at some point. Of course, the real question on every fan’s mind is more likely, where is Supergirl? Given that the final season of Supergirl is coming to a close soon, fans may have an answer to that question soon — and maybe even confirmation if General Zod will return too.
