Electronic Arts has announced that the Game of the Year edition of Plants Vs. Zombies, the original tower-defense game where you choose which plants and where to place them to effectively fight back against the zombie hordes, is absolutely free on EA's Origin service.

Click here to open the Origin webstore and get the game now. Read our review of the classic tower-defense game here.

Plants Vs. Zombies quickly became one of my favorite game franchises for its inventive use of character, its bright vibrant colors, and its challenging and deep gameplay. I first played the game on Xbox 360, but using a PC with mouse and keyboard will only make the action more frantic and engaging.

Electronic Arts is giving the game away for free to promote the launch of Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare which will arrive on PC on June 24th. We loved Garden Warfare on Xbox One and awarded it a score of 5 out of 5. Read our full review here.

You can preorder Garden Warfare for PC via Origin after you get your free download of the original Plants Vs. Zombies.
