FlexiSpot C7 Morpher Chair Review

FlexiSpot C7 Morpher Chair Review

The FlexiSpot C7 Morpher ergonomic chair boasts dynamic features intended to support a wide range of users. There’s a dynamic backrest, inflatable lumbar support, forward tilt support, extended armrest movement, and a high recline range. For those who want a chair that goes beyond a more traditional, limited setup, with the potential to fine-tune settings to their exact preferences, this chair could be a winner. Here’s how it fared in my real-world review.

A bold presence

Once built, the C7 Morpher has a dominant form, especially in my relatively small office. With support for taller people and a wider seat than most, it’s expectedly large. Those hoping for a more stealthy design will want to look elsewhere, as the C7 Morpher is unapologetically maximal. For a premium, flagship chair in this range, that seems appropriate to me.

Sitting in the chair for the first time, the DynaFollow backrest immediately makes itself known. This dynamic backrest adjusts to the user’s body position, rather than staying in one fixed place. Combined with the Flexlean forward tilt, the chair does a good job of maintaining back support even when the user is moving and leaning.

The forward tilt’s 10-degree range might seem like a minor feature, but for someone like me, who often leans forward when typing quickly to give feedback, I can definitely appreciate it. It’s something that I hope to see implemented by other brands.

Pump it up

FlexiSpot C7 Morpher Chair Review

The AirLumbar support, with its inflatable system, is an interesting implementation. Having to pump the lumbar support up is a pretty unique take. I’m not wholly convinced by the process, but it works well enough. My initial worry was that the lumbar support would deflate over time, requiring constant pumping up, but that doesn’t seem to have happened with my chair.

The armrests are also worthy of highlighting. They have a very wide range of movement, allowing users to put them exactly where they want. I found this useful when gaming with a controller, where my hands are brought close together. The C7 Morpher’s armrests were successfully maneuvered to sit under my elbows.

Other spec highlights include the recline range of 143 degrees. It also supports heights up to 6’7” (as confirmed by my lanky frame) and user weights of up to 163 kg.

The mesh material also feels high-quality and highly breathable. With how humid UK summers have become, I’m always happy when I receive a mesh chair instead of a faux leather chair.

Get tuning

The extreme personalization potential of the C7 Morpher may be intimidating to begin with, but once you’ve spent an hour or two dialling things in, it’s easy to appreciate the versatility here. If you’re a person sitting for many hours a day, and constantly moving into different positions, this is the kind of chair you want. One that keeps up with your posture changes..

Easing into things

The biggest strength of the C7 Morpher, its wide range of customization, is also its potential biggest weakness. It offers so much adjustability, potentially to the point of being overly intimidating or complicated.

Those expecting to simply build the chair and immediately find the perfect sitting position may have another thing coming, as the various systems do take some tuning to get right.

Final Verdict

At $799.99 — though currently discounted to $669.99 — the FlexiSpot C7 Morpher carries a premium price tag. For the money, I think there are better options out there from established chair companies boasting better warranty programs, but I’d be lying if I said the C7 Morpher didn’t feel good to sit in. Once you get it fine-tuned, which is especially tricky as a taller person, this chair more than satisfies for long work days in front of a computer screen.
