Do rocks come back in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

If you have destroyed an Animal Crossing: New Horizons rock, accidentally or not, you will be glad to hear that, yes, destroyed rocks do come back. Eventually. One rock will respawn randomly on your island a day. This means that if you destroy all six of your rocks in a day, you’ll only have one rock on your island the next day, two the day after that, and so on. As rocks contain valuable Iron Nuggets and Bells, you don’t want to destroy all of them at once. With careful management of your rocks, however, they can prove to be exceedingly useful.

Up to six rocks can be present on your island at any one time, but if you don’t like where they are, you can destroy them. As stated above, a destroyed rock will re-appear the next day in a random location. You’ll need to keep destroying them to get them exactly where you want them.

How to break rocks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To break rocks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll need to eat a piece of fruit and then hit a rock with a shovel or an axe. Eating one piece of fruit allows you to destroy one rock, using up one bar of stamina (you can have up to ten stamina at once). Follow these simple instructions to destroy rocks:

  • Eat a piece of fruit to raise your stamina level
  • Use your shovel or axe on the rock to destroy it

If you don’t want to accidentally destroy rocks, you’ll want to make sure you have no fruit stamina left over. Simply head to the toilet in your house (if you have one) and sit on it. This will, ahem, get rid of any leftover fruit stamina you have remaining. Don’t ask how.
