What If? episode 6 is here, bringing back Eric Killmonger from Black Panther previously portrayed by Michael B. Jordan. In this adventure, Marvel explores a scenario where Killmonger saves Tony Stark in Afghanistan. As you can expect, the ramifications this has on the MCU are pretty large. We head to Wakanda much earlier in the timeline, with some wild battle scenes to boot. If you’re wondering why the Killmonger voice actor may sound similar, we’ve got all the details you need on Black Panther’s beloved villain.
Does Michael B. Jordan voice Killmonger in What If? Episode 6?
Yes, Killmonger’s voice should sound familiar, as Michael B. Jordan returns to reprise his Black Panther role here.
Jordan is among many big-name MCU stars to return for What If? We recently saw Benedict Cumberbatch don his Doctor Strange robes once more, and other stars like David Dastmalchian, Mark Ruffalo, and Sebastian Stan have all returned.
This is the first we’ve seen from Michael B. Jordan in the MCU since Black Panther in 2018. Of course, Killmonger met a grisly end in that film as he was killed by Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. However, his role in What If? episode 6 is very different. In this scenario, he’s the king of Wakanda, a throne he tries to claim in the Black Panther movie. This is a more successful attempt, however, and makes for some very exciting animated battle scenes.
Of course, Michael B. Jordan’s reappearance here doesn’t mean that Killmonger will return in the live-action MCU. His character is quite definitively dead in the continuity, and as such, this is more of a fun return than a full-fledged resurrection. However, as the MCU heads towards more multiverse-based stories in future entries, we can truly never say never to a Killmonger return.
