No Man's Sky Base Staff Disappear Fix

No Man’s Sky Base Staff Disappeared Fix | What to do if your Overseer, Scientist, Armorer, Farmer, or Technician is gone

When you start playing the newest No Man’s Sky patch, you may run into a nasty bug that causes your base staff to disappear. You might return to base and find your overseer, scientist, armorer, farmer, technician, and their consoles are gone. This can be especially irritating if you’re still in the middle of the base-building missions and can’t complete a quest because your staff isn’t there anymore.

Fortunately, your base staff disappearing in No Man’s Sky isn’t the end of the world. In fact, it’s a pretty easy glitch to fix once you get over the shock of them not being there.

What to do if your base staff disappears in No Man’s Sky

I loaded a save in preparation for the latest update and started the base-building sidequests. I had my overseer, scientist, and armorer all comfortable and was progressing at a great clip. However, when I loaded after the update and returned to my base, all my little friends had disappeared.

Strangely, even though my scientist was gone, there was still a waypoint to turn a quest into him. However, it just led me to the base computer. Fortunately, there’s a way to get everyone back, though it is a little annoying.

All you have to do to summon your base staff back from purgatory is to rebuild their consoles. It’s a bit irritating to have to do this, especially if you haven’t saved up a ton of resources. You don’t get any refund for the original consoles you build, so you’re just out of luck there.

To rebuild the terminals, you need the following resources:

  • Construction Terminal (Overseer):
    • 40 Chromatic Metal
    • 25 Pure Ferrite
  • Science Terminal (Scientist):
    • 40 Chromatic Metal
    • 25 Magnetised Ferrite
  • Weapons Terminal (Armorer):
    • 40 Chromatic Metal
    • 25 Pugneum
  • Agricultual Terminal (Farmer):
    • 40 Chromatic Metal
    • 25 Condensed Carbon
  • Exocraft Terminal (Technician):
    • 40 Chromatic Metal
    • 25 Di-hydrogen

As to what causes your staff to disappear from your base in No Man’s Sky, we don’t know. However, if you follow these easy steps, you’ll have them back in no time.
